Featured in Abode Magazine: Clarity of Vision in Cambridge
We are proud to announce that one of our recent residential architectural projects has been featured in the latest issue of Abode Magazine!
The article, titled "Clarity of Vision," showcases a striking, bespoke family home we designed in Cambridge, Waikato. Beautifully written by Cassie Doherty, the feature highlights how easy collaboration and seamless communication between our team and the interior designers can translate into a balanced, enduring home.
Bringing the Vision to Life
For this project, the experienced homeowners came to us with a clear direction. They wanted a strong exterior look with a prominent gable focus. Working closely with them, our founder and director, Sam Austen, developed the plan into two connected gabled forms, anchoring the main facade with a well-proportioned, half-height fireplace.
Designing on a unique, triangular-shaped subdivided site came with its constraints. However, by carefully considering the compression and expansion of spaces, we managed to seamlessly fit all the clients' requirements into a relatively compact footprint—including a pool and a sauna. Strategic glazing and skylights draw in abundant natural light, beautifully balancing structural solidity with open transparency.
As Sam shares in the feature:

A Team Effort
A project this refined is always a collective achievement. Sophia Cole and her talented team at Yellowfox did an incredible job bringing the interiors to life with a soft Mediterranean influence, perfectly complementing the structural lines of the house. We also want to thank the local suppliers and craftspeople involved, including Fernlea Cabinetry & Joinery, Social Light for the custom kitchen pendant, The Finish for the Venetian plaster, Feature Panel, and Tile Warehouse.
The ultimate reward is seeing how the home proudly greets you as you approach the property, offering relaxed, elevated family living.
